Jewellery Supplies & Components Care Info
Components/jewellery supplies:
Jewellery components are an excellent way to add charm to your designs. It is always advisable to do your research on using new metals etc
Here are my tips on how to keep your components looking clean and sparkly. However there are many other ways to clean your components, just do your research on the internet.
Cleaning Raw Brass components/jewellery!
Raw brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, it’s a gorgeous component to add to your jewellery designs to add extra charm. Raw brass will tarnish over time. Some people like the tarnish look and some don't.
It’s advised to always clean your brass before assembling your jewellery ready for selling. You can purchase brass/metal sealant at Bunnings to seal your brass components after cleaning them if you desire. This is totally up to you!
What you’ll need to clean your components:
Small bowl, white vinegar, baking powder, lemon juice, paper towel, & cloth of some sort like a microfibre cloth or jewellery cloth.
- ¼ cup of white vinegar
- I teaspoon of baking powder
- Squirt of lemon juice
Mix ingredients and place components in the liquid. Leave for a minute or so, rinse quickly under water and place on paper towel to dry off. I then give the components a rub and clean with a microfibre cloth! Voila!!
All jewellery components that are plated or painted such as silver, rose gold, brass, black and coloured etc may tarnish over time, this happens to all metals. You can clean by polishing with a jewellery cloth. All components should be keep in storage containers, away from sunlight and water.
I highly recommend passing onto your customers care instructions.
Thank you and happy making
